Aviation Photography Across South Africa

Shot By Mason specialises in aviation photography, capturing aircraft, airshows, aviation events and unique moments throughout KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa.

Based in Pietermaritzburg, Mason Stretch combines aviation knowledge with professional photography to create detailed, dynamic and visually powerful aviation imagery, from taxiway detail to full display sequences.

Straight off the card

Featured aviation photography

A selection of Mason's own aircraft frames. Every image on this site was photographed by him: nothing licensed, nothing generated.

Display flying

Airshow photography

Airshow work asks for anticipation more than reaction: knowing the display line, where the light sits, and which pass will read best against the sky. Mason shoots full display sequences, arrivals and departures, static lines and the crowd-side atmosphere that makes a show feel like a day out rather than a list of aircraft.

Deliverables are edited stills, supplied fast enough to be useful to organisers, teams and operators while the show is still news. Accreditation is arranged with the organiser where airside access is needed.

Air to ground, ground to air

Aircraft photography

Individual aircraft deserve portraits: registration clean, panel lines sharp, prop or rotor blur reading as motion rather than mistake. Mason photographs general aviation, warbirds, helicopters, military types and commercial traffic, on the ramp and in the air.

Owners and operators use these frames for sale listings, sponsorship decks, crew rooms and large prints. Shutter speeds, angles and backgrounds are chosen for the aircraft, not a preset.

Fly-ins, expos, open days

Aviation events

Fly-ins, club days, expos and aviation trade events get the same treatment as a display: arrivals, people, detail and the wide frames that set the scene. Coverage can be a single morning or a multi-day event.
